The Greatest Wingman

One of the criminals hanging beside Him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while You’re at it!”
But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this Man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”
And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with Me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43

Peace Amidst the Chaos

Having peace is surely more important than trying to understand why something happened the way it did – but if you’re someone like me, you tend to take everything that happened (or is happening) to you and try to understand it. “ Why did that happen”? “How did that happen”? “What could’ve been done differently to make a different outcome”? Eeeeek! God doesn’t desire for us to figure things out on our own. That’s not our job. We’re supposed to trust and Read more…

Daily Bread (Bible Study Kickoff)

When I go to church on Sunday morning, I look forward to spending time with my bible study group and also with the rest of my church family. I learn from the bible studies that we do and I learn from the weekly sermons. A lot of study and preparation goes into the teaching that we receive. I feel very blessed to have wonderful teachers and leaders that put in all of that hard work to teach us what God wants us to know. We have weekly bulletins to help guide us and to take notes. We can even do it on our church app right on our cell phone, which is very convenient. We carry our phones right in our back pocket anyway, where we can Read more…

Imperfectly Perfect Circumstances

I’ve had a quote on my wall at home for over a year now that says: “Don’t Let What You See Make You Forget What I Said. – God”.

I think many times we look at our current circumstances and forget God’s promises. We wonder how we’re going to get from where we are now to where we want to be. Or we think that God just doesn’t care because things aren’t happening in our lives like we want. Or something that looks to be just out of reach, isn’t coming into reach like we want it to. I see a pattern here. WANT WANT WANT. What does God WANT Read more…

A Safe Place

Written by:  Mandi Greene

Like most people, I’m not particularly fond of conflict. Unlike most people, I have been known to break out in blotchy red hives when faced with unwanted confrontation. While commiserating over our mutual meekness with one of my beloved sisters in Christ, she described an odd habit to me that permeated well into her adult life in which she would shove a blanket along the crack at the bottom of her bedroom door when she went to bed each night. It was a ritual she executed for years without over analyzing why. It Read more…

Christ’s Sacrifice for my Sins (EASTER)

Oh man… can’t we find ourselves in some predicaments in life sometimes??  When fumbles in life happen, when things I do go completely against what God is teaching me in the Bible, it just feels horrible, but admittedly, sometimes I’ll still make those fumbles.  Sometimes without meaning to, other times, I screw up completely and fully aware that I’m screwing up. Embarrassing to admit, but it happens. I think how in the world God can still love me after Read more…

Breaking Down Walls (EASTER)

Working around construction and watching walls being torn down and new things being built in their place is exciting. It’s interesting when you think about it. Walls that have been there for so many years, all of a sudden come crashing down. Breaking down walls may seem like a daunting task to accomplish, but with the right leaders in charge and the proper tools being used, it becomes a success. A new day is dawning, getting rid of what doesn’t work anymore Read more…

My Best Friend (EASTER)

When they arrived at the place where God had told him to go, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. Then he tied his son, Isaac, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood. And Abraham picked up the knife to kill his son as a sacrifice. At that moment the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Yes,” Abraham replied. “Here I am!”

“Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know Read more…

Good Friday

How ironic that the absolute worst day in Jesus’ life is known to us as “Good Friday”.  Mind you, I’m grateful that from our perspective it is a “good” day.  Jesus took MY place that day so I would never have to face the rightful judgment that MY sins deserve.  That is “good” for ME.

However, I don’t ever want to forget that there was nothing “good” about that Friday for Jesus.  His Friday started in the early hours when a mob arrived to arrest Him on false charges.  He was led away ALONE, as most of His best friends ran away.  The two disciples Read more…

Needing Others

Going through life thinking we can do things on our own without help from others is never a good good choice to make. We definitely need people in our lives to help guide us, teach us, strengthen us, and love us. Having people that we can count on to shine a light in our lives and let us know that we matter is good medicine for the heart. Having a circle of friends, whether it’s family or not, that you can lean on just helps your life run smoother. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to, someone who will listen and lead us in the right direction. Read more…
